Quantitative Range of Nessler's Reaction with Ammonia.

چکیده

There is considerable variation in ways of preparing Nessler’s reagent as well as in the manner of forming the colored ammonobasic mercuric iodide. Two critical values are the ratio of KI to Hg19, i.e., x in HgL.xKI, and the final concentration of mercury. The value x determines the stability of solutions and to some extent the relative sensitivity to NH3. Vanselow (2) concluded that x should be 2.10, which is a 5% excess of KI over the theoretical 2 moles. Table 1 shows values of x and the concentration of mercury in several reagent preparations. Table 2 shows a range of x between 2 and 3. The mercury concentration in the final color solution ranges from 0.002 to 0.02 moles per liter. In view of a 10-fold range, practical consideration would indicate a need for knowledge of the lowest workable concentration.

A novel optoelectronic detector and improved flow analysis procedure for ammonia determination with Nessler's reagent.

This paper presents a simple, rapid and effective method for ammonia determination in a flow analysis regime using Nessler's reagent. The proposed modification of the common flow procedure results in the total elimination of the problem of precipitate deposition inside the flow manifold. The improved procedure has been adapted to a flow analysis system based on microsolenoid pumps combined with...

Mechanism of Hg(II) Oxidation of D-Galactose in Alkaline Medium

D-Galactose, Nessler's Reagent The present paper deals with the kinetics of oxidation of D-galactose by Nessler's reagent in alkaline medium. The reaction is zero order with respect to Hg(II) and first order with respect to reducing sugar. The direct proportionality of the reaction rate at low hydroxide ion concentrations shows retarding trend at higher concentrations. The reaction rate is inve...

A Photocatalytic Method for the Degradation of Pyrrolidine in Water

A method for the degradation of pyrrolidine in water is described. The method relaies on the photocatalytic degradation of pyrrolidine to CO2 and NH3 by UV irradiation and using titanium dixide semiconductor as a photocatalyst. Compared with direct photolysis, the semiconductor catalytic photolysis gave consistently higher degradation yields for pyrrolidine in water. T...

Mechanistic studies of the reactions of the reduced vitamin B12 derivatives with the HNO donor Piloty's acid: further evidence for oxidation of cob(I)alamin by (H)NO.

There is accumulating evidence for the existence of HNO in biological systems. Compared with NO (˙NO), much less is known about the chemical and biochemical reactivity of HNO. Kinetic and mechanistic studies have been carried out on the reaction between the vitamin B12-derived radical complex cob(II)alamin (Cbl(II)˙, Cbl(II)) with the widely used HNO donor Piloty's acid (PA). A stoichiometry of...

بازدارندگی فلزات سنگین و حلال‌ها بر آنزیم اوره‌آز برای تولید آمونیاک در سنتز داروی ضدفشار خون نیفیدیپین

Introduction: Simultaneous development of technology is composed with environmental hazardous with heavy-metals and organic solvents and thus toxic catalysts/organic solvents must be replaced with biocatalysts and water. Urease is a hydrolase enzyme and urease-urea can be considered a safe source of toxic ammonia in synthesis of nifedipine. Nifedipine is an antihypertensive drug synthesized by ...
